Jasper's Story

Jasper was born in 2017, and first started showing signs of being unwell at around eight months old, his lack of appetite, how lethargic he was, the constant high temperatures. As first-time parents, you question yourself constantly: are we overreacting?

Over the next 6 years, Jasper had multiple bouts of pneumonia and years of hospital admissions. It became normal in our house to work out who was on 'choking duty' for the night. Jasper survived on cauliflower and broccoli Heinz powder for around two years before he could eat properly again.

After several tests, Jasper was diagnosed with a rare genetic mutation. This led to our journey from South Wales to the Great North Children's Hospital in Newcastle for a life-saving bone marrow transplant, relocating 250 miles from home, with no income and a mortgage to pay.

Jasper had good times and bad times throughout his treatment. He danced his way through transplant where he could, even in the hardest times.

Louie's didn't turn us away when several charities did. We couldn't be more grateful, not only for the financial support, but for being friends to talk to.

Jasper is now a healthy, happy child, running races for Louie's for other families still going through hospital life.
